All about porcelain tiles in the garden

What are porcelain tiles?

Garden trends come and go, patios and pathways stay for the long haul so you want to invest in the right option for your garden. As time moves on we get stronger, more weatherproof solutions, the porcelain tile is a modern, minimalist option available in some great colours and textured type appearances (you can even get them in a wood effect) – no more pink and yellow chess board style patios!

Why would I want porcelain tiles in my garden?

These tiles absorb very little water – which helps them out when it’s wet or frosty to avoid cold weather damage.

Because porcelain tiles don’t absorb water they don’t stain like other slabs which will suck up water and even oil leaving them with marks that are hard to remove.

The non-porous nature of these tiles makes them more resistant to mould and mildew.

The word porcelain sounds fragile, but these tiles are made from strong stuff and are very durable, they can only be cut by diamond. They are known to be much stronger than a ceramic tile.

These tiles are great for areas of high footfall, so for example the entrance to your home.

These tiles are fade-resistant in the sun so will retain their colour despite any more heatwaves!🌞

Porcelain garden slabs are an eco-friendly option compared with some of the choices available, these tiles contain no waterproofing agents, varnishes or resins that can be harmful to the environment.

No sealant application is necessary on a porcelain patio.

How do I maintain my porcelain patio or pathway?

These tiles won’t absorb your red wine and BBQ spills like Indian sandstone will.

You can give them a seasonal jet wash, great for avoiding a build-up of algae or dirt from under pots.

Sweep up to keep the area debris-free of leaves, moss the birds have dropped, petals from your pots etc.

Spot clean if you have a significant spillage.

A cleaning solution for porcelain tiles is available.

Keep them clean, and porcelain tiles will look new for a long time.
