September jobs For The Gardener

Oh the rain! We had the heatwave and now we have surprise downpours (usually on the way to and from school, or on the way our of the supermarket with no coat or umbrella!). Great news for the grass, the hedges and trees.

We have been business as usual turfing, planting, mowing, weeding, hedge cutting and adding a little treatment to lawns to make them green again after the dry summer. We have again this year been installing decking, a mixture of wood and composite this year (it comes in all sorts of different colours). We’ve also been updating patios to a more modern look with porcelain slabs. Have a look at our Instagram and Facebook pages for recent photos of our work and inspiration for your garden!

The school holidays have finally ended and the evenings are starting to creep in that little bit earlier, but there is still plenty to do in the garden…

Taking care of the lawn

Now is the perfect time to get new turf down and if the weather stays like it is, you won’t have to water it everyday.

If your lawn is a little bit patchy (or like us you bought one of those Swedish logs and scorched the grass) it is the perfect time for seeding or patching things up with sections of turf.

Making the most of what’s left of Summer

Keep on top of the dead heading to get the most from your perennials, if you get it just right they will keep on giving you more flowers, we’ve seen some lovely geraniums this year which have lasted the distance!

Dead head your hanging baskets and pots too, keep them fed and watered and get the best you can from them before the colour disappears into Autumn.

Plant something new!

Plant forget -me-nots for some colour

Plant some pansies and wallflowers ready for next year, you won’t regret it!

Pick up foxgloves, forget-me-nots and sweet williams for the garden, for a bit of colour in late Spring.

Go for a low maintenance garden

Any time of the year is great for gravel, if you\’d like to stop mowing that tiny square at the front of your house, or you’d like to get rid of the hedge which hangs over the driveway just to make sure you get extra wet in the rain before you get in the car, we can replace it with some nice slate or bark.

What do we do?

We have been up and running as a family business for 8 years in Milton Keynes. No big chains here, we work with local, small suppliers where we can to source plants, turf, gravel and so on, and to service our tools and equipment. We work with other local MK based businesses to collaborate on projects, whether that is local letting agents and landlords to builders and estate managers.
