Oh the rain! We had the heatwave and now we have daily downpours. Great news for the grass and the hedges!
We have been business as usual turfing, planting, mowing, weeding, hedge cutting, taking care of tree surgery jobs and new for this year we have added decking to our offering. We have installed some great decks across MK for people to sip on their ice cold Prosecco on a sunny summer’s evening.
The school holidays are about to end and the evenings are starting to creep in that little bit earlier, but there is still plenty to do in the garden…
Taking care of the lawn
Now is the perfect time to get new turf down and if the weather stays like it is, you won’t have to water it everyday.
If your lawn is a little bit patchy (or like us you bought one of those Swedish logs and scorched the grass) it is the perfect time for seeding or patching things up with sections of turf.
Making the most of what’s left of Summer
Keep on top of the dead heading to get the most from your perennials, if you get it just right they will keep on giving you more flowers.
Dead head your hanging baskets and pots too, keep them fed and watered and get the best you can from them before the colour disappears into Autumn.
Plant something new!
Plant some pansies and wallflowers ready for next year, you won’t regret it!
Pick up foxgloves, forget-me-nots and sweet williams for the garden, for a bit of colour in late Spring.
Now is the time to plant your bulbs. Remember early last year when you were admiring other people’s daffodils and tulips? Be prepared, get your bulbs in the ground before we see the freezing temperatures.
Go for a low maintenance garden
Any time of the year is great for gravel, if you’d like to stop mowing that tiny square at the front of your house, or you’d like to get rid of the hedge which hangs over the driveway just to make sure you get extra wet in the rain before you get in the car, we can replace it with some nice slate.
What do we do?
At Tame Your Garden we offer regular visits, or one-offs from tidy ups to tree surgery. We work on courtyards to car parks, estates to sports grounds, communal gardens to private family gardens, dental surgeries to schools and children’s nurseries.
A local, family business
We have been up and running as a family business for 7 years in Milton Keynes. No big chains here, we work with local, small suppliers where we can to source plants, turf, gravel and so on, and to service our tools and equipment. We work with other local MK based businesses to collaborate on projects, whether that is local letting agents and landlords to builders and estate managers.
Part of the community
As part of giving back, we look after a local churchyard to keep it regularly maintained. Our chosen charity for 2020 is Milton Keynes based children’s charity Toybox.
Get in touch today for a quote for your garden, we operate between Buckingham and Milton Keynes, out to Cranfield, Bedford and Leighton Buzzard. You can give us a call, send an email or DM us on social media. We always quote based on taking a look at the individual job that needs doing and do not offer an hourly rate.
